Running has given me a job,

a fantastic way to stay fit (I am 64 and have a biological age of about 45, or so they say), a beautiful and supportive community of friends who I see regularly in and out of running environments, and it’s given me a purpose in life (inspire, encourage and train others to be healthy in body, mind and spirit).

I run because I get to lead over 300 runners and walkers

and get paid to do it. Sweet deal! I was smart early on in my running career in that I decided it would be better to get paid to run instead of paying so I got a job as a Training Coordinator.

I love running Reservoir and Golf Ball Hills in Tulsa

(yep, we have hills!) and they are a rite of passage for our runners. I enjoy helping them get to the top for the very first time! Golf Ball Hill has a giant water tower at the top of it shaped like a golf ball on a tee and Reservoir Hill overlooks the city.

My favorite piece of gear is my Garmin

I also have a career as an artist and never use math in my art existence. Running is the only time I get to use math much and I love all the statistics and numbers my Garmin, Strava and Stryd gives me. I have become a huge metrics nerd as a result. It’s so interesting all the time and it helps me be a much stronger and faster runner.

Current Goal = Run Boston!

I have qualified for Boston twice in the past year. The first time (Erie Marathon) I missed the cut by 16 seconds. The second time (San Diego Marathon) I have a 5 minute buffer and am hoping that is enough.

I run 5-7 x week

I coach runners 4 evenings a week and 3 mornings a week so I run at either 6am or 6pm for the most part.
