There’s little surprise that Endure24 has become known as the Glastonbury of running. Holding events in Reading and Leeds (see below), runners come together to take on a serious challenge while surrounded by camping, a festival village, and even yoga. The 5-mile trail route passes through wooded glades, past lakes, and up the treacherous Heartbreak Hill. Solo runners can join the elite Endure24 100 Mile Club by completing 20 laps within the 24 hour time limit, and the course record is a staggering 140 miles. There’s also an option of running in teams of up to 12 runners, so it’s possible to share the workload. Runners receive incredible support throughout, and are often inspired to go further than they could have ever thought possible.

    What do the racers say?

Gareth H: This event is THE event for runners, it is amazingly well organised, from the time the event opens on the Friday until the final gun on the Sunday. Music, Food, Shops, Yoga, a tough trail course with great marshals and support around it. You'd be stupid to miss this one!

Caroline B: Fabulous event, well organised, super marshals, lovely course and facilities. It’s my favourite running event ever, have done it 5 times.

Paul C: First time I have done this, already signed up for next year! Supremely well organised yet on a very ‘low touch’ basis. Loved everything, even Heartbreak Hill seems like a fond memory!

On their success at the Challenge Awards, organisers Cybi Coastal Marathon said “Over a few beers, we came up with this crazy idea to organise a marathon with a few important morals, single use plastic free, raising funds for local RNLI, supporting local businesses and promoting Ynys Cybi as a destination. 2 years on and out of nowhere we find ourselves in London receiving the Award for best UK marathon.

On their success at the Challenge Awards, organisers Race Solutions said “We are incredibly pleased to win this award, trail and ultra is really growing in popularity. With 6000 runners taking part in Endure24 annually we like to think we are the first step on the ladder for many aspiring ultra runners.”

No wonder the Endure24 tagline is ‘Epic, brutal, and relentless’.

    And the runners up:

2nd Place: Dixons Carphone Race to the Stones - By Threshold Sports

This is one of the most famous ultras in the UK, taking on 100km of the historic Ridgeway. Runners follow in the footsteps of travellers from 5,000 years ago, passing Neolithic burial chambers and Bronze Age hill forts. The race is fully supported, and sees runners regularly returning for more adventure.

3rd Place: Mizuno Endure24 - Leeds - By Race Solutions

Following the same format as its Reading sibling, the Leeds event takes place in Bramham Park, and passes temples, follys, forests and fields. The weekend gathering of runners from all over makes it an incredible community occasion, where old friends can get together and get their trainers on to achieve something incredible.
